Requiring COVID-19 Vaccine Now Creating OSHA Headaches

If you choose to require your employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine, be prepared for the new OSHA guidelines.

OSHA’s stance earlier in May stated that if a vaccine is required, an adverse reaction would be work related. If you are merely recommending a vaccine, that is then the choice of your employee.

OSHA’s position has made businesses rethink their requirement of a vaccine.

If you do require it and there is an adverse reaction, it would be considered work-related and would need to be recorded on your OSHA 300 log.  If there is a hospitalization, or a subsequent death, as a reaction from a vaccine OSHA must be notified immediately.

Many businesses have expressed their concern with OSHA’s stance and OSHA is reviewing their position.  You can read more here.
